Confirmed vs Emerging: When to Act on an AI Visibility Finding

Confirmed means brief the writer. Emerging means watch. How Prescy labels confidence so agencies do not spend a week on noise.

Every finding in Prescy is either Confirmed or Emerging. That label is not a priority score. It is a confidence label: how sure the product is that the gap is real enough to spend a writer’s week on.

Get this wrong and agencies ship briefs on noise. Get it right and the weekly mission stays short.

Key takeaways

  • Confirmed — act: both engines see the gap, it repeats across several questions, or the evidence is strong.
  • Emerging — watch or investigate: thin sample, single question, weak or vendor-only evidence.
  • One mission per week should almost always come from Confirmed findings.
  • Emerging is still useful — it is a lead, not a ticket.

What Confirmed means

A finding is Confirmed when at least one of these is true:

  • The same gap shows up on both ChatGPT and Perplexity for at least one tracked buyer question — the strongest corroboration.
  • The gap repeats across three or more tracked questions.
  • The underlying fix carries strong evidence (a clear cited source and a concrete edit path).

Confirmed means: brief the writer, watch the URL, and lock a baseline for Monday. It does not mean “guaranteed lift next week.”

What Emerging means

A finding is Emerging when the signal is still thin:

  • Only one engine, or one tracked question, shows the gap.
  • Evidence is weak, hygiene-only, vendor-only, or already disproven.
  • You do not yet have enough repeats to trust a full content sprint.

Emerging means: keep it on the board, maybe verify the URL by hand, but do not report it to a client as “the problem” until it graduates — or until you deliberately choose a cheap probe.

How operators should use the labels

  1. Pick one Confirmed finding as this week’s mission.
  2. Ignore the rest of the Confirmed list until Monday — parallel work is fine only if it does not steal the primary brief.
  3. Park Emerging unless the effort is tiny (fix a robots block, confirm a dead URL).
  4. After the Monday recheck, if nothing moved, follow the outcome-loop next tactic — wait for a second Monday, then change the lever — instead of inventing a new narrative from an Emerging row.

Agency rule: client updates lead with Confirmed. Emerging belongs in an optional appendix, never in the headline.

Confirmed is not the same as high intent

Confidence and buyer intent are different axes. A Confirmed gap on a weak “other” prompt is still less valuable than an Emerging gap on a real compare or alternatives question — but you still should not oversell Emerging as proof.

On the Prompts page, use intent chips to decide which Confirmed finding deserves the week. On Findings, use Confirmed vs Emerging to decide whether to brief anyone yet.
